Today is what we like to call “Trainer Tuesday” A day in which we recognize outstanding trainers who are passionate about what they do and care about the people they work with. Meet Peter Santamaria. You’ve probably seen him helping people out at the University Vasa in Orem. His story is nothing less than inspiring and we congratulate him on his personal progress and his success as a personal trainer.
My name is Peter Santamaria and I have always been an athlete including playing college lacrosse for a division two NCAA school and fitness has always been a big part of my life. When I got married my wife was in a wheel chair and on bed rest for the first year of our marriage. As difficult as it was I had to limit the time I could spend at the gym so I could take care of my wife. It wasn’t too long after that I weighed more than I have ever weighed before. I hit a wall and this was a crucial time in my life. I began going to the gym at 5am every morning so I could go to work and then come home after and care for my wife. I started researching different strategies to use during my transformation and I came across intermittent fasting and carb cycling. I lost 55 pounds in 6 months and with hard work and dedication I was able to reach my goals and create a new lifestyle for myself. I am a firm believer that with determination and dedication anyone can achieve their goals no matter the circumstances. I am currently a NASM certified personal trainer at vasa fitness.
